When loading the Map Designer on my PRTG installation with more than 5,000 sensors, my browser (Firefox) shows a dialog box:

Warning message

Warning: Unresponsive script

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

What does that mean?

Unresponsive script in Map Designer

When you open the Map Designer feature in PRTG, the entire device tree is loaded to ensure you can easily use drag-and-drop with all of your monitoring objects.

Preloading your device tree might take a few seconds at first, with the benefit of faster operation later. However, in very large installations, your browser might show the warning displayed above, depending on your configuration, client, and browser. We have seen this in Firefox with installations that contain 5,000 sensors and more.

Confirm the alert with Continue to wait for it to finish. After successful startup, you can use the map designer as usual.
