Map status icons don't show in IE 11

We have a simple status map, that is attached to the local probe, and shows a row of icons and the number of sensors with that particular status. I use an iframe to add these to a web site. Chrome and FireFox shows these status icons correctly, IE 11 does not show the icons, but all other aspects of the iframe appear.

Any tips to making the icons appear in IE?

Another strange behavior in IE, sometimes when the iframe refreshes, IE moves from the web page to a page only showing the iframe contents....and in this view, the icons do appear.
