Can I encrypt connections to my WSUS server?

I monitor various statistics about Windows Server Update Services with the WSUS Statistics sensor. Is the information that is passed between PRTG and the WSUS server always encrypted?

Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and SSL encryption

If you select the option Use SSL/TLS in the WSUS Statistics sensor settings, connections to and from your WSUS server are secure. However, SSL encryption will only work if you set the WSUS to allow secure connections using SSL. Make sure that you configure your WSUS accordingly.

Microsoft standard is that WSUS only uses SSL for metadata containing mostly update information. Moreover, securing your WSUS deployment with SSL increases the workload of the server. Refer to Microsoft TechNet for further information, for example:
