Monitoring the contents of a file?

Votes:

0

I have a tool that outputs a numeric value into a txt document and I need a way to monitor it. There will only ever be 1 value in the file as the contents are blanked out every time it runs. The File Content sensor seems like it would only alert me when there is a change rather then what the value is. Any help is appreciated.

Hi zack949,

The File Content Sensor is able to search after a specific string in a file. However, if the value varies, the Sensor is not able to find that value.
In this case, I recommend using an EXE/Script Sensor to extract the value and send it to PRTG.
