Monitoring Stand-by 4G links

Votes:

0

Hi there,

We have hundreds of 4G/5G backup links on stand-by mode in the region. They are attached to SDWAN routers and kick in if the fibre/internet link goes down. We are on PRTG for all the system monitoring and was wondering if there's a way to monitor the status of the 4G/5G mobile backup links at all.

With thanks, AJ

Hello,

Thank you for your message.

Regarding the monitoring of the 4G/5G links, have you checked the MIB file(s) corresponding to your SDWAN routers? There is probably OIDs which return information of these links and therefore that could be used in PRTG to monitor them.

You can check the MIB file(s) by using the MIB Importer tool available here: https://www.de.paessler.com/tools/mibimporter

Then, if you find OIDs you can import the MIB into PRTG and use it with the SNMP Library sensor.

If you routers provide an API, you may also be able to get the information you want by using a custom script with one of the EXE/Script sensors.

If you have questions, let us know.

Regards.
