WMI Errors

I have two servers that on a weekly basis will give me this error

Last Message: WMI request timed out. Probe's WMI system had to be stopped. Please pause or delete sensor and restart probe! (code: PE051)

There is no problems with the server that I can see and I have restarted both the PRTG server and the affected servers and this still occurs at random times about once a week. I have found no pattern that would match it to workload or backup.

What is the cause and solution to the problem? I am monitoring over 30 Windows servers and just two of them give me this alert.

Needless to say, by supervisor is concerned, but is also tired of being interrupted on the weekends because of a false positive alarm.

Hello,

have you tried repairing the WMI System on these two particular hosts? Sometimes WMI responses with total non-sensical results to breaks the connection in a very critical way for the PRTG Probe. You could consider or try installing a remote probe on these hosts, or maybe using SNMP to monitor these two.

best regards.
