question 1:

We are having problems with the WMI sensors, on most of the servers in the domain. We have cheked the tcp port 135, in the firewall, and it is open for traffic. We have been looking for troubleshoohing in the prtg faq, and knowledge base, without finding any solution. When we try to add a new wmi sensor for a server, the error report is this:

"Connection could not be established (80070005: Access is denied - Host: 10.33.216.14, User: svc_prtg, Password: ******, Domain: NTLMDOMAIN:user.stoh.no)"

and this on some servers.

"Connection could not be established (800706BA: The RPC server is unavailable - Host: 10.33.156.180, User: svc_prtg, Password: ******, Domain: NTLMDOMAIN:user.stoh.no)"

The user svc_prtg is member og Domain Admins.

we are using the version 7 of prtg.

question 2:

when upgrading to prtg 8, are we loosing some settings from the version 7?

Best Regards

Torfinn.

Hello,

for the Errors on the WMI Sensors, we can only refer to our WMI Troubleshooting articles, which it seems you read already. Did you try a scan with the WMI Tester already?

When upgrading to PRTG 8 from PRTG 7 you will not lose any settings.

Best Regards.
