Hello,

it's not possible to add groups to the Root-level. Only Probes can be directly under the root.

Best regards.

Are there any plans to add this? It would make the device tree a lot easier to read.

I'm afraid in the moment there are no plans to implement this. But it may help to use Libraries in that direction.

Please consider adding this feature. Even better allow a fully custom group/device hierarchy where you can create groups that can contain arbitrary groups/devices/sensors.

I wonder if this still hasnt been fixed. Being able to group things without being forced to use another feature / being able to group probes with potentially different hardware would be an absolute godsend at this point but somehow a basic feature somebody asked about over a decade ago still hasnt been added.

Hello,

the strictly hierarchical device tree structure has its upside, like quick internal processing. With PRTG being used more and more in large setup with more probes, we are not sure if adding device tree object complexity is the right step to actually allow for clarity in the tree.

Some new, or different organization feature would surely be useful – as would be improving other parts of the interface. Even more pressing are feature requests like moving proves across different PRTG core servers. Such feature implies architectural improvements which take time.

Being PRTG users ourselves we know the issue with probes not being groupe-able first hand. We also try to look at the situation as a whole. Just adding one more tree layer would be a band-aid to an issue with deeper implications.
