SNMP error 2003

I am receiving snmp error #2003. I did a netstat -a and noticed that port 161 is not listening. I assumed the application would open the port. I am using my workstation ip for the connect:direct listening address. In the Paessler tester I have

  • the local IP set to any
  • device IP set to the workstation IP (same as connect: direct listener)

I do not have a firewall on my machine. I did not see any services I needed to start via computer management. Any ideas? Much appreciated...!

Hello,

do you receive this in PRTG Network Monitor on SNMP Sensors? If so, first of all please check if the SNMP Settings (Version, Community String, port, eventual authentication, etc.) are correct. Then please also check if PRTG (or the PC on which PRTG is installed) is allowed to send SNMP Requests to the device in case. You can also use our SNMP Tester to test the SNMP-Functionality on the target device(s).

Best Regards.
