Why do I get a connection timeout message when sending SMS via bulksms?



When sending an SMS text message notification via bulksms.de, I get an error message saying the following:

Error sending "SMS": Number=+1555123456, Message=Socket Error # 10060 Connection timed out.

Connection timeout when sending SMS via BulkSMS

The error message indicates that PRTG did not receive any response for the HTTP call. When you use the provider BulkSMS, check if your firewall is blocking outgoing connections and make sure that connections on TCP port 5567 can go through to BulkSMS' servers.

If changing firewall settings is a problem, you can also use the Enter a custom URL for a provider not listed option and enter the provider's URL. Use the default port number 80.
