I'm new to PRTG and looking for any documentation on best practices to setup the system. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Do you have documentation for Best Practices to configure groups, devices, sensors, etc.?

Hello,
this question is very hard to answer in general approach. Setting up PRTG does significantly depend on your network (architecture, devices and services) and also, on how you want to use PRTG.
- You could simply start with PRTGs Auto-Discovery, it will do most of the work for you.
- Please have also a look at our video tutorials under https://www.paessler.com/support/video_tutorials
- In terms of bandwidth monitoring, the following article might help you selecting which sensor-type to use: Should I use SNMP, Flow (NetFlow/sFlow) or Packet Sniffing for my monitoring?

Generally, we recommend creating devices with the Auto-Discovery functionality using a device template. If you switch on Auto-Discovery on a regular basis, changes to your device template will automatically take effect on all devices that are connected to this template.
Let me list some additional introductory sections from the user manual (PRTG 7):
- For an introduction into PRTG's object hierarchy, the manual section Object Hierarchy is a good start.
- Depending on the hierarchy, you can use the Inheritance of Settings
- and also set up Dependencies (e.g. for use with alarm Notifications).
