Distributed monitoring with failover?

Votes:

0

I have a set of machines in two different sites I am needing to monitor. For performance reasons I'd like to have a master at site A, and a failover server at site B. However, I would also like to have a remote probe server at site B to reduce the network traffic on site A. Can I have the failover sever and also a remote probe server on the same box at site B? It looks like I can have one box at site A as both the master and probe server, but can I do the same at site B?

Thanks! Scott

Dear Scott,

it is not possible to install a remote probe on a machine which already has a "full" PRTG installed (regardless if master or failover-node). Each PRTG-Server also has a Local Probe (even if it is 'hidden' in the web interface, as for example on a failover-node), and therefore the machine cannot have another Probe Process running.

Best Regards.
