Why is a number appended when a template is used?

When using a template to create a new device, why do all the sensors added get a number appended to them (eg "PING 53") instead of just "PING"? It's not a requirement to have unique names for each sensor so it's just annoying for this to happen. Is there a way to stop this behaviour?

Hello,

the numbering is purely for identification purposes. And I'm afraid currently there is no option to disable this.

Best Regards.
