Reports on Sensor Factory sensors show "?" for Uptime

Votes:

When running a report on Sensor Factor sensors, the "Uptime" and "Downtime" fields show "?" rather than the up or downtime percentage. The correct up or downtime percentage shows when opening the sensor factory sensor and viewing live data. Is it possible to make the report show the correct up and downtime?

I'm afraid uptime/downtime totals calculation is not available for Factory Sensors.

Thank you for your quick reply Patrick! Is there another way to have a report show the downtime of a "service"? For example, I have a sensor factory containing 15 ping sensors on our core network. I'd like to report on the % downtime of those sensors as a whole..

You could only try accessing the historic data via 'Historic Data'-tab (in CSV-Files) for the sensors and then calculate an average (for all those sensors) yourself.

Is there a better solution for this problem, by now? Or maybe a better workaround?

Dear Kristofer

The channel formulae can be changed at any point and can refer to source channels with different creation dates. The factory was never meant to provide uptime/downtime statistics, it is only there to allow for a way to aggregate existing data. This sensor allows to see aggregated data for a time prior to the factory creation – it has no historic data of its own.

If you don't need actual computations and just the state of a system which can be described by different sensor / device / group statues, please have a look at our new Business Process sensor. That sensor has its own historic data and an uptime/downtime statistic as well.

It is now possible to get an aggregate % from multiple devices with some of the SLA plugins that exist from Paessler Alliance Partners. The page with our partners can be found here and if you have any specific questions on which plugins to use or how to get an overall uptime / downtime percentage in a report or on a dashboard, feel free to contact presales or support
