StartSSL certificate not working

Votes:

After installing StartSSL certificate on PRTG v.8. the core service didn't start,so we had to reset the certificate to the original one for it to work again.

The certificate looks fine, and we think we followed the instructions correctly. Any ideas where we should start looking please?

Thanks, Anna

In general, we recommend that you use the PRTG Certificate Importer to set up your own certificates for PRTG Network Monitor.

Dear Anna,

if the PRTG server does not start, something is wrong with the certificate files. For example, the key file might be still encrypted.

Please make sure the /cert folder of your installation actually contains the following files with the right content (open PEM and KEY files in a text editor to have a second look):

  • prtg7.crt (the certificate of your server)
  • root.pem (the root certificate of the issuer)
  • prtg7.key (private key of your server, decrypted)
