If I install a remote probe on a server, will it store any data on that server? Or does it simply forward all data to the core server?

The remote probe only stores log information directly on the PC where it is installed.

Monitoring data is directly send to the core server. If connection between the remote probe and the core fails, the remote probe stores the data in the RAM.

For detailed information, please see How Probes Work in Remote Probes and Multiple Probes.
