I want to migrate my PRTG server from Win2k3 to Win2k8 (both 64bit).

We want confirm that PRTG7 performance on 2008 R2 x64 will be at least equal to or exceed current performance on 2003 R2 x64.

The operating systems Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 are not officially supported anymore. If you run PRTG on one of these operating systems, you have to accept limited monitoring functionality. We do not provide support for any issues that might be caused (directly or indirectly) by using these Windows versions.

Except for WMI, which has less performance on Win2k8 compared to Win2k3 according to our tests, I would not expect any slowdowns when migrating from 2003 to 2008.

See my blog article from June last year: Don't Use Windows Vista And Windows 2008 for Network Monitoring via WMI!

It looks like Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 7 are much better than Vista and 2008 R1, but still below the level of Win2k3.
