Cisco ASA5510 SNMP monitoring

I cannot get the SNMP sensor added despite SNMP Tester confirming there are standard interfaces present.

The PRTG host (10.1.0.0) is behind a firewall and we are monitoring a remote firewall (10.2.0.0). SNMP tester can communicate with the remote firewalls' outside interface.

When adding the SNMP sensor the remote firewall is showing a UDP drop from the probe on 10.2.0.0 to the outside interface of the remote firewall

Can you please advise what we have got wrong?

Thank you

Andy

Hello,

please try running the PRTG Probe Service under the same account you ran the SNMP Tester on. Please also make sure that the Probe uses the same "Outgoing IP" (Can be set in the PRTG Probe Admin Tool) as the Tester.

best regards.

Hello,

Having thought about this further we have worked out the cause. The workaround is to get the Firewall monitored by a probe located on the outside interface of the remote firewall. The current probe is sitting on the inside network on the remote site.

Thank you for the quick reply
