Is there a way to set notifications based on sensor priority?

I have around 300 sensors out of 10,000 which need to be monitored 24/7, I've set them all at priority 5, none of the others are priority 5. I want to have separate notifications for these sensors, which are spread amongst various groups and probes.

Any idea on how I can do this?

I'm on prtg 9.

Notifications for sensors in libraries

You can add notifications to libraries. Libraries can show sensors filtered by priority. Follow these steps to add notifications to your libraries:

  • Create a new library in PRTG.
  • Add a single object or all of your objects to this library via drag-and-drop.
  • Right-click the library node(s) and select Edit | Settings. Under Filter by Priority, select Show only sensors with specific priorities.
  • When your library has all the sensors you want to include, switch to the Notification Triggers tab and add a new trigger. This can be, for example, a State Trigger for the Down status.
  • Your newly created notification trigger will be valid for all sensors in your library. If you add or remove a sensor from the library, it will affect the notification trigger accordingly.

hallo,

we are already working on a solution, but that one will not be available before the next major release.

It might be possible then to add notification for certain tagged sensors or to add a notification to a library object.

If your Notification runs a custom script (execute program), you can read the Sensor Priority by using the %Prio placeholder as an input to the script. Then you can evaluate the Sensor Priority in the script, and initiate different actions depends on the priority (or combination of Status and priority).
