Is it possible to update current sensor's names with the new name template?

Votes:

0

There is a need to change default generated sensor's names (([port]) [ifalias]) to another format (([ifname]) [ifalias]) without renaming it manually. Parameter "Port Name Update" was changed to "Automatic sensor name update if name changes in device" for particular groups in "Inherit SNMP Compatibility Options" section.

How can I update current names to the new format without deleting these interfaces (with loosing data) and auto-discovering them again or renaming descriptions on the routers?

Dear Oleg,

existing sensors can only be renamed manually. The Port Name Template only applies to newly added sensors. Sorry.

best regards.

Where can I find the port name template? I'm trying to make it so auto discovered devices via WMI are named only as the short windows name (non FQDN)

The port name template is only available for SNMP sensors. In the case of WMI sensors you would need to adjust the name manually.
