Why lsass.exe consumes lots of Memory and CPU?

Votes:

We have got a Windows 7 Enterprise with PRTG Network Monitor 8 installed. Today I have noticed that the lsass.exe consumes around 50% of CPU and 800MB memory!! The above PRTG server is a VMWare vSPhere VM with 2 GB memory and 2 x 2.4GHz CPU. Also we created 260 sensors for 97 devices.

Is this normal? If not, what should I do to overcome this issue? If yes, do we need to assign more resources to this PRTG server?

Thanks in advance for your help and support.

Hi,
this behaviour is caused by the AD Authentication Feature of PRTG. Please update to the latest release 9.2.0.2196 where this issue was fixed.
Best regards
