icmp problems with v9

Votes:

hello,

i have been having all sorts of icmp problems since moving to version 9 (9.2.0.2176) from version 8. on my ping sensors, i am now getting a lot of packet loss when there is no actual packet loss on the circuit/path. also, certain devices report ICMP error 11050 from time to time which throws a sends a notification (and i think the device is down or unreachable) when in reality, it is not. i have tried tweaking all sorts of settings, increasing the icmp packet size, reducing the scan interval, but nothing seems to work.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

ICMP error 11050 seems to be firewall related. Please check your hard and software firewall settings.

i tried a couple different firewall configurations on the prtg server-

a) on with exceptions b) off from gui c) windows firewall service disabled

and all had the same behavior. on friday, i upgraded to the latest version (9.2.0.2236) and all is well again.
