I have several hundred interfaces on different switches and routers (all Cisco) that i would like to monitor that they stay down. If an interface changes to UP i want to create alarms/notifications.

Hello,

to create an error/alarm if a sensor (monitoring a down interface) goes up is not possible. But a notification is possible. Creating a state trigger on condition down with only the 'Off'-notification configured should do the trick.

best regards.

It would be VERY nice to be able to give alarms on "negative" monitoring like this...

I am going to experiment with your suggestion.
