Which domains and ports does the Geo Maps feature use?

Votes:

0

I am trying to get the Geo Maps feature to work in PRTG 12. I entered coordinates for a device, but the map doesn't load (tested all map providers NOT requiring an API code). I guess the traffic is blocked on one of our firewalls. In order to get proper firewall rules implemented, I need to know which domains are contacted on which port. Also I would like to know if there is a possibility to configure an http proxy for this if http is used. I found settings for an http proxy under notification delivery settings, but I don't know if this proxy is also used for the Geo Maps feature. Thanks in advance for your help!

Important notice: As of PRTG 17.4.33.3251, PRTG uses HERE Maps. If you cannot see your maps, update PRTG to the latest version. For more information, see Geo Maps Currently Not Working In PRTG.

This article applies as of PRTG 22

Servers that PRTG connects to for Geo Maps

Depending on the service provider you choose, PRTG connects to different URLs to retrieve geo coordinates for a street address and to obtain map tiles.

Usually, only the PRTG web server needs to connect to these URLs to provide all necessary data to the client web browser. Sometimes, however, the client with which you use the PRTG web interface needs internet access as well.

Can I use a proxy?

By default, PRTG tries to use a direct internet connection. If a proxy is mandatory in your network, log in to PRTG and configure your proxy settings in the Core & Probes settings. For details about proxy settings, see PRTG Manual: Core & Probes

Proxy support for geo maps is on our wishlist. Unfortunately, we cannot give an ETA, but I guess we will probably add it in 2012.
