I am currently trialing PRTG Network Monitor & want to know how do I locate a specific device either by IP address or name?

When you add an object (for example a device) you are required to add a IP address OR DNS name, both are possible.

yes, you are right you can use both. But I'm afraid I do not understand the issue because both ways will result in the same behaviour.
