How to tell which interface it is when adding sensor

Votes:

Hi,

When I add a new sensor in PRTG on a router, I get something like this in the list of interfaces to choose from:

(048) Connection-to-XYZ Network

I am pretty sure this is one of my vlan interfaces but I it is hard to tell which one it is. Is there a way to correlate the list that you get when you are trying to add a sensor on a device to the actual device interface? I have too many descriptions that are very similar and I'm never sure which router interface I'm actually selecting. (I want to make sure that this is vlan 323 for instance but how do I tell for sure?).

thanks, michael

interface name prtg

The description of the individual interfaces should be available in the device's documentation. Seeing as there really isn't a standard nomenclature we cannot tell with precision what the name provided for each interface corresponds to.
