Does Remote Probe Needs WMI Service On Local Machine?

Hello, machine a is the prtg server core machine b is a server 2008 r2 different vlans and a firewall between because of security reasons i cant add wmi sensors to a device therefore the chosen method was to use remote probe but because of other security reasons machine b must disable it's wmi service

my question is how the remote probe retrieve data on the machine? is it possible to disable the wmi service?

Hello,

sorry the WMI Service very likely needs to run on the Probe host as well, as this one is the part of the underlying Windows doing part of the WMI Monitoring (i.e. Connection establishing, etc.).
