NTFS Compression for PRTG Data Storage
We recommend to not use NTFS compression for the PRTG data folder. By default, compression is disabled. If you enabled it before in the PRTG Server Administrator, we recommend you alter a registry value, in order to disable NTFS compression for best database performance.
Set Registry Value
Caution: Please backup your system before manipulating the Windows registry!
- Open the registry editor
- Navigate to the right key
- For a 64-Bit Windows system, go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Paessler\PRTG Network Monitor\Server\Core\
- For a 32-Bit Windows system, go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Paessler\PRTG Network Monitor\Server\Core\
- Change the DWORD value DataCompression to disable or enable NTFS compression for the PRTG data folder:
0 = disable NTFS compression (recommended)
1 = enable NTFS compression
