Hi, I need to know some information about how PRTG works. Actually i want to know exactly which ports are used to ping and SNMP services. And also at which rate the monitoring is done, i mean what is the frequence of the ping send for the checking of a service.

Thank you,

ping prtg snmp

Hello,

you can define the "rate of monitoring" yourself, by setting the scanning interval according to your needs/requirements. SNMP uses port 161 (UDP) on the targets usually, but that can also be changed, on PRTG side it's going to be a dynamic high port then. Ping is not really UDP or TCP, so does not have an exact port.

best regards.
