After upgrading PRTG to version 12.4.6.3230+ which includes the 64bit CoreServer, all of our VMWare Hostserver Hardware status (SOAP) sensors report "no data".

What can I do to get the sensors working again?

64bit prtg prtg12 soap vmware

Hello,

Once there are grey sensors again the next time, please go to the "Setup"->"PRTG Status"->"System Status"-Page in PRTG and use the link "Write Probe state file". The state file(s) should be written into the "Logs (System)"-folder, please then send us the content of this folder. Please also forward us a screenshot of the overview page of one gray sensor, a screenshot of the Live graph and live data table of this sensor. And also a screenshot of the "Setup"->"System Status"-Page in PRTG.

You will find the log files within the data directory as defined under the "Core Server" tab of the "PRTG Server Administrator" tool, or in the following default paths:

XP/2003: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Paessler\PRTG Network Monitor\Logs (System)
Vista/2008/Windows 7: C:\ProgramData\Paessler\PRTG Network Monitor\Logs (System)

Please be aware that it might also be a 'V7' or a 'V8'-folder in which then the "Logs (System)"-folder resides. You can also use the option to upload the logs to our FTP-Server, using the button "Send Logs to Paessler..." on the tab "Logs" in the "PRTG Server Admin Tool". Best if you send us this via an email to [email protected]

best regards.

Hello,

this can happen, if you have created the HardwareState-Sensors during the early beta-version of this sensor. In the ongoing development during the beta-phase we decided to rename the channels from 'Green States', 'Warn States' and 'Error States' to 'Normal States', 'Warning States' and 'Alert States' to be more in sync with the VMware-names of these statuses. Unfortunately the once created sensor does not recognize this change and adds 3 additional channels to the sensor. The former primary channel does not receive any data anymore.

Solutions: - you can configure the 'Normal States' instead of the 'Green States'-Channel and may set the deprecated channels to invisible or - you can pause the old sensors if you want to keep the historic data and recreate the sensors (no clones of the old ones as cloning preserves the channel-settings!)

Kind regards
