How much Bandwidth does each sensor on the Probe consume on a Daily Basis?

I have a PRTG Probe installed with 6 sensors. Each sensor has a Scan Interval of 5 Minutes. can you please advise how much bandwidth PRTG Probe would be consuming on a Daily Basis.

The bandwidth consumed by a sensor per day is the number of requests per day (depending in the interval) multiplied with the number of bytes required to perform the sensor test (depending on the sensor type).

With 5 minute intervall you have 12 checks per hour or 312 per day.

To calculate the bandwidth used by one HTTP check you can simply use the number of bytes of the webpage to aproximate (IE and FF display this in the page properties). If you use HTTP transaction sensors simply add the page sizes of all pages.

For example: monitoring a webpage that has a page size of 40kb with 5 min interval

312 x 40kb = 12480kb = 12,5 MB per day

Hi,

The Probe has 6 Sensors. 4 are for Web Transaction Monitoring with two URLs each and 2 are for Simple HTTP Web Monitoring.

Please advise.

we don't know how many URLs you are using in your transaction sensor and we don't know which sites you are monitoring. That makes it very difficult to give an appropriate answer..

Hi,

In the Transaction Sensor we are using 2 URLs. These URLs are Internal Application URLs for the Organization.

We have 4 such transaction sensors.

For the Web URLs, 2 are hosted in the same LAN and 2 are being connected over the WAN in another Datacenter.
