Trying to setup granular notifications and device group access

Votes:

I am trying to setup notifications and access rights for my organization. We have 4 locations. 1 main data center and 3 sub data centers. I have technicians at each location and want them to receive notifications for that particular campus but also see the devices at the other locations without receiving alerts for them. I created a group for each location with the devices under it and made the tech a r/w user of that group. If i make them a Read Only of my main data center, will they still get alerts?

Hello,

notifications are not directly related to access rights. It depends where you set which Triggers with which notifications (for certain recipients). This determines who will receive the notifications then as emails/sms/etc.. So for example, if you setup a State Trigger on Root level, with everybody from each location as recipient of an Email Notification, then people in location a will get alarms from location b, even though they do not have access to its sensors.

best regards.
