SSH Remote Ping - Authentication Failed

Votes:

0

Hi,

I added ssh remote ping sensor to a device. Its a Linux box. I generated the keys(ssh-keygen -t rsa) and placed the private key in the private key box.

I get the error "Authentication Failed". If I use the username and password instead, it works.

Any help on this is appreciated.

Thanks Ronald

Hi,

have you tried connecting to this linux box from another machine using this key, too? Which version of PRTG and Linux are you using?

Kind regards

Thanks for your reply.

I am using PRTG version 12.4.7 and Debian Squeeze.

I am able to connect to the linux box from another machine using the key.

Thanks Ronald

Hi Ronald,

Is your key encrypted (Password-protected)?
Please take a look at HowTo Use a Private Key with SSH Sensors in PRTG, especially the late Step 4 and Step 5 part about the correct format of the key needed in PRTG.

Kind regards
Dieter
