Add customSNMPstring sensor to devicetemplate

Votes:

Hi,

Is it possible to add the following custom SNMPstring sensor to the "Switch Cisco Generic"-template?

kind="snmpcustomstring" requires="snmp1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1.11.1" displayname="SNMP Serial Number"

When copy/pasting the config from my custom device template to the default template and running an autodiscover the new sensor was not created.

Technically we do not support altering device templates and if you wanted to create a template like this, you should be able to add a device with the Cisco Template then add the sensor that you are describing and create a new device template from that.

Thanks for the reply. I want to add the sensor to 150+ existing devices and would like the sensor to be automatically created on newly discovered devices. If I use a new device template I will have to manually apply that template to my devices. Is there a way to have the sensor automatically added to all existing and newly added Cisco devices?

I've been able to create the sensors using the new device templates, thanks for your answer.
