Can a RAC Instance be Monitored?

Votes:

0

According to https://kb.paessler.com/knowledgebase/en/topic/52803-how-do-prtg-sensors-connect-to-oracle-databases RAC cannot be monitored. Can an Oracle RAC instance be monitored, or is there really no way to monitor a database directly in a sensor?

I suppose a script could be created that does the monitoring and then PRTG could call the script, but with that we would loose a lot of the simplicity and reporting capabilities of the product monitoring record set results, counts, timing, etc.

Hello,

thank you very much for your KB-Post. I'm very much afraid, indeed a script sensor would be necessary to monitor an Oracle RAC in the moment. We will put this on the wishlist! Please bear with us.

best regards.

Thank you for the feedback. I look forward to an addition that will allow this functionality to be monitored.
