What are the windows credentials needed for Performance Counter monitoring?

Votes:

All of the relevant documentation I find, says the credentials should be Windows Domain Administrator. These credentials seem exceedingly high for Performance Counter monitoring. Are there more restrictive credentials that we can use instead of Windows Domain Administrator? We won't be using WMI, just direct access to the Performance Counters.

Hello,

thank you very much for your KB-Post. Sadly, we found that Domain Admin credentials (much like WMI) work best with using Performance Counters. Which is why this is our recommendation, because it should ensure the highest chance of the sensors working "out of the box". You can of course try using credentials of a user with less privileges, but we found it seems there is hard rules for that, what seems enough in one case, wasn't in another.

best regards.
