Why can't I add SOAP sensors to my PRTG probe

I have a newly deployed probe that I need to use to monitor both ESX hosts and a VCentre environment. When I try to add the sensors, I find they are greyed out and I get a message stating that I need to install .Net Framework 4.0 and be running vcentre 4.0 or higher.

Both these critieria appear to have been met:

The probe has .Net Framework 4 Client Profile and .NetFramework 4 Extended installed and showing on add/remove programs.

VCenter is running version 4.1.0

I have also tried installing the probe directly onto the vCenter server which also has the same versions of .Net installed and I get the same results.

Please can you advise how I get the SOAP sensors working.

-net-framework soap vmware

Since installing the .net, have you rebooted the server? Have you made sure that .Net is updated to the most recent version? If both of these have been done then something may be wrong with the dependency check and you may need to re-install .net 4

I got to the bottom of this issue - For some reason, unlike with other sensors, the SOAP sensors will not add, unless you have credentials stored for VMware/ESX against the Device, or one of its parents.

Once I added in some credentials, I was able to add the SOAP sensors to my VSphere Server.
