Core setup silent install fails on e-mail adress

Hello,

We are in the process of full automation of PRTG with core(s) and probes based on What command line codes and exit codes can I use with Paessler setups?. The installation of the core fails on the e-mail configuration (log below). How should we proceed ?

Hello,

sorry, the silent installation for a full PRTG Installation is not supported. Please perform a normal installation process, and enter the necessary data manually.

Eh.... aren't we all in the automation business ?? Come on Thorsten, that's no reply.

We can build a complete white label enviroment with Exchange, SQL, AD, Remote Desktop servers + farm, Gateway, Connection Broker, WebAccess, OWA, VLAN's, proxyserver and everthing else with full scripted installions but you force us to set up PRTG by hand due to a missing e-mailadress ? :-S

Sorry, I can only repeat, silent installation on of a PRTG Core Installation is not officially supported.

Sorry, currently there are no plans to support it. Please bear in mind that it would also be about the License Key and Licensee Name, which would have to be supplied after the Email Address. It would fail then at latest there.

License is not the issue. A big order(s) is coming your way. But I fought hard to get PRTG in the mix, so no full install is a bummer.

I must say. I agree with CoDesk. Why can't we automate the installation of this product? We are evaluating your product for purchase. Unfortunately, I will be recommending against it because of this.

Usually PRTG Core Servers are only installed once, which we consider to be acceptable when done manually. Which is why silent installations are not officially supported.
