Disable Notifications for Sensor from Probe

Votes:

0

We currently setup a notification at the root level of a probe.

We do this so when new servers are added or sensors, we automatically have a notification profile associated.

However, we are seeing a lot of false positives from the NIC sensors. We would be interested in a simple way from the top of the hierarchy to disable the alerts based on tag or sensor. Would this be something possible with the current system? If not, any thoughts as to a potential future request / feature?

Dear Mr. Walter

Disabling sensors is not possible on a tag-basis. In an upcoming version, we will implement additional ways of notifications. While not fitting your purpose exactly, the new notification option will make the maintenance of notifications made easier.

The current version 14.4.12 of PRTG can be configured to not set a sensor down until the sensor is down to up to five request in succession. This setting is available in the same setting where the sensor interval can be set. While being a cosmetic change (the sensor switches to warning level first) this setting avoids to get notification in the case of very short error occurrences.

When will 14.4.12 be released as a stable version? Just curious.

Is there a way to edit globally all the sensors that are in place? I have 161 CPU sensors that I need to adjust for example.

Can you also describe the way to edit the custom templates already in place for new auto-discoveries?

Dear Mike

Most sensor settings, including the interval settings, can be changed for many sensors at once using multi-edit: https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/multi_edit_lists

Changing custom templates is not directly supported by PRTG. It is possible to edit the actual file, which contains an XML structure. There is no PRTG user-interface to edit an existing template, because in most cases it is easier to quickly create a new template.
