Why can’t I save my PRTG password in Google Chrome?

My Google Chrome browser does not save my password anymore when I log in to my PRTG web interface. Previously, this worked well. Is this new behavior to not store my PRTG credentials caused by PRTG or by a Chrome update?

This article applies as of PRTG 22

Saving PRTG passwords in Google Chrome browser

As of version 37, the Google Chrome browser does not allow saving login passwords for web pages with invalid certificates. Because the default certificate of PRTG is a self-signed certificate, you will not be able to save your PRTG credentials in Chrome 37 if you have secured the connection to your PRTG web server via SSL.

We recommend that you install a trusted SSL certificate. This avoids the browser warnings when connecting to the PRTG web interface, and you can save your login credentials for PRTG with Chrome 37 as well. For details, see How can I use a trusted SSL certificate with the PRTG web interface?
