Send no mail after pause if monitor does not change

PRTG local Proble is running in the central office. A Monitor of a device in a remote office goes into Error State and an Email is sent. The device depends on its gateway in the remote office. The central office and remote office is connected through VPN.

Now the VPN Connection is broken and the remote gateway goes down. All monitors of the remote device (also the monitor in Error State) goes into state pause because of the dependency.

After the VPN Connection is OK, all monitores resumes and are checked again. The monitor, that was in Error State, is still in Error state and a new Email is send.

The check for the monitor before pause and after pause has not changed. So why is the email sent again? How to prevent it?

Hello,

Thank you very much for using PRTG. This cannot be changed, PRTG cannot know if the error (condition) is really the same after the pause (as before). We decided then to have another notification sent rather than none. Because potentially missing a new error is worse, than being notified on an existing one.

best regards.

Hello,

I understand. But if the System is paused because of dependency, usually it is not possible to resolve the problem of the down monitor. (the System is down or not reachable). So it does no matter, if this is a new error, or an old one. We do not need a second, third, fourth, ... e-Mail.

It would be fine, if it could be changed by customer: Email on error after pause? Yes/No. Thanks.

Currently there are no plans to enable such a function. We'll put it on the wish list.
