Cisco switches down ports showing as up

Votes:

Hello,

I'm monitoring some Cisco switches - some ports are showing as "up" with no traffic being passed, when in fact they are not connected on the switch (and in a down state). I've removed them from prtg, but they've been re-added when doing a autodiscovery. Any ideas?

Thanks

Michael

Hello Michael,

Objects that were deleted will always be added anew during a new auto-discovery process. I'm afraid this is by design and cannot be modified. The only option would be to either use only certain templates (allowing to discern only specific types of objects, e.g. SNMP sensors) or to create your own device template, within which you can define the individual objects that are to be added.

Another option would be to pause the sensors in case - that way they wouldn't be added with a new auto-discovery, seeing as they are still extant on the device in case.
