How to monitor devices that are not always on?

Votes:

0

Maybe the answer is clear to everybody except me: Ho do I monitor devices that are not always on? For example, all our Windows oder OSX clients and all our printers are off during the night, off during in weekends and holidays and off if the respective worker is absent, e. g. because she ist ill.

I can monitor the devices no problem, but of course the devices are very frequently off and PRTG generates an error. How can I avoid that?

Best regards and many thanks for your answer(s),

Felix Büchner

Hello Felix,

The best way to monitor your devices for certain periods is the schedules option of PRTG. Go to Setup | Account Settings | Schedules and create a new schedule for the weekdays and hours you want to monitor your devices. Afterwards go to the Device/Group/Sensor | Settings | Schedules, Dependencies and Maintenance Window and select the created schedule. This way the sensors will be paused for the hours you did not include in the schedule.

Best regards
