Is it somehow possible to on a MAP have small icons (only green dot) and when hovering over them show traffic?

In the upcoming version 8 of PRTG you will get popups for sensors/devices/groups in maps.

But only for fully authenticated users. In "public maps" this feature is not possible (because authentication for the AJAX http request is not possible).
