Monitoring LSI MegaRaid Controller in Windows 2012 Storage Server

Votes:

0

We have a Win2012 storage server which has an attached JBOD of several disks. We use a LSI MegaRaid Controller to connect the JBOD via SAS Cables. The controller has a theoretical max of 6 Gbit/s. We would like to monitor the actual controller so that we could gain more insight into any performance issues with the disk. Currently we are using PRTG to monitor the Win2012 OS, the physical switch and NIC devices.

Is there a way we can gain more insight into the RAID controller performance with PRTG?

Thank you,

Chad Whaley

Hi,

if you install the management tools for the MegaRaid Controller and activate SNMP on your server, it should be possible to gain insight into your Controller.

I installed MegaRAID Storage Manager and the SNMP Agent. Imported the provided MIB file into PRTG and I am still unable to see controller messages in PRTG. Server 2012 R2. Other sensors are working.

Hello There,

Please download our latest SNMP Tester, run it on the PRTG Host (or host of the Remote Probe), and perform a Walk test against the target device providing the 1.3.6.1.4.1 OID as parameter.

Which results do you get in the Tester? Please share the complete resulting logfile from the Tester.

Best Regards,
