Hey,

Im trying to get some info out of our storage V3700 ( 7.2.0.1 ) I have downloaded the mib tried with different onces from the IBMs webpage.. (6.4, 7.2, 7.4) (used the importer ofc. )

The storage and prtg server are on the same vlan and have connection (prtg probe can ping the storage withjout any problems)

the community string is correct the snmp port is correct and checked on both probe and storage.

when i try to add the snmp lib i get no answer from the storage (error prompt that noting has been recivied) and i can not proceed with the add sensor process.

Soooo my question is.. is there anyone out there running this combo? what am i doing wrong? :)

Thanks in advance! J

Hi,

We have a kb article regarding issues with SNMP (https://kb.paessler.com/en/topic/46863). Please download our SNMP Tester (https://www.paessler.com/tools/snmptester), run it on the PRTG host, and perform a "Read Device Uptime" against the storage. If that works, convert your MIBs to OIDlib format using our MIB Importer (https://www.paessler.com/tools/mibimporter) and use the OIDlib and the SNMP Tester to scan your device.

What result do you get?

We have a IBM Storwize V3700 as well running v7.4.0.2 and have SNMP setup and the MIB downloaded from the device. The MIB has nothing useful for PRTG when you convert it using their MIB importer tool. Basically the V3700 doesn't provide any useful data via SNMP, it only provides event messages to a trap receiver. You can setup a trap receiver in PRTG, that is about all you can do to get anything (at least alert messages) via SNMP from your V3700.
