Can I add a device to multiple groups?

Is there a possibility to add a single device to multiple groups? I'm trying to show my enterprise structur with groups. So I have groups like Windows, Unix, Server, virtual, physical, location x. I could copy the device, but then I had to make change for a single device in different places.

With the groups I want to show a quick overview. Like Windows (0 Warnings), Unix (1 Warning), Server (1 Warning).

The device should have in every group the same configuration. I just want to display it with the groups and create with the groups an overview about all problems.

You can of course create multiple devices for the same endpoint, which would accomplish the goal of "adding a device to multiple groups". But then you end up managing the same device in multiple locations.

I think your best bet might be to rely on tagging, and utilize reporting, perhaps customizing a report for your own purpose. Even using tags and maps might be a good alternative, maybe in combination with dashboard views.

Hope that helps.

Best, JZ

Hi,

You might also want to have a look at libraries to create multiple overviews regardless of the device tree structure.

Best regards
