Can PRTG v14.4.12 monitor firewalls?

Hi,

We like to use PRTG v14.4.12 to monitor firewalls (eg. Mcafee sidewinder v7.0.103, Juniper v6.3.0r13.0 and checkpoint R75.3 & R65). Is this version compatibility for the monitoring or upgrade required? Thanks.

Hi,

As there are no native sensors for those firewalls, you can use the MIB Importer Tool to import the manufacturer's MIB file for this device and create an SNMP Library Sensor afterwards.

Best regards

Thanks for your advise. In summary, can I say it is not compatible at this moment as a lot of self-coding customisation required by users. Will there be plan to incorporate these into next latest version of PRTG? Thank you.

Hi,

Did you already try to import the MIB files? The process of adding OIDlibs does not take very long and you will be able to choose the values from a drop down list within PRTG. This will not require any self coding. We will of course continue to write native sensors for various devices, but there are so many manufacturers that it will take some time and we will not be able to add sensors for each device due to the wide diversity. This is why we offer the possibility to import the MIB files.

Best regards
