Could Not Start PRTG Core Server (Web server)

For some reason my core server stopped working. When I attempt to start the core service I get a message stating:

Sorry, could not start PRTG Core Server (Web Server) Could not start webserver for http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: Structural error in XML file, 15 open items.

I did find a previous thread that mentioned replacing the PRTG Configuration.DAT file with one from the Auto-Backups folder. However, I tried with two different files and received the same message with the first one and a different error message with the second.

Does anyone have an idea as to why this happened and then how to fix?

I just replaced below folder from backup when it was working, and fixed the issue for me.

C:\ProgramData\Paessler

Rakesh is right, have a look at this:
How do I restore a previous configuration of PRTG from automated backup ZIPs?

Go back as far as necessary with the configuration files. What particular version are you running?
