Collecting and reporting on Up time, Partial Up and Down

Votes:

0

Hello

We have a service that has 3 levels of service state and writes events to an event log ID's:

10:Up 11:Partial 12:Down

We are monitoring the event log for those ID's but are unable to report how much uptime, Partial uptime and downtime in 1 day for example.

I have created a custom lookup and the dial displays the correct data.

is there another way to achieve our goal.

Ideas very welcome.

thanks

Chris

Hello Chris,
we appreciate your contact.

PRTG can report the up-time and downtime for a sensor, but currently there isn't a 3rd state who is stored that you could use. If your lookup definitions sets the sensors down in case of ID 12 or ID 11 and 12, the reports would tell you the Uptime (Status 10) and Downtime (Status 12 and or 11).

Unfortunately further reporting (by a 3d status) can't be accounted because it isn't stored in any way.

Best Regards,

Hello Chris, to review a sensor's uptime and downtime please use the Historic Data tab within the sensor or the Reports feature. Within the sensor's overview you'll only see those values in percent.

Within a report/historic data you'll see something like this:

Uptime Stats:Up: 88 %20h 26m 38sDown: 12 %2h 52m 13s
Request Stats:Good:93 %1216Failed: 7 %[91]

For PRTG to consider downtime the sensors has to either:

  • Not Respond or be Unreachable
  • Have a "Error" lookup
  • Be triggered by channel limits
  • Simulated Error/Downtime
